Sisters, Cate and Kristi opened Piece of Cake bakery in September 1998. A year later, with the business growing, Cate and Kristi tricked big sister Lora into coming to work for with the family business. The sister's passion for baking has transformed their small bakery into an award winning down town staple celebrating their 19th year in business.
Lora's oldest daughter Amanda is a master cake designer who leads the best decorating team in Evansville. Our design team is made up of master decorators Brandi, Alexis and Katherine. Culinary artist Stephenie and cake apprentices Tiffany, Hanna and Amelia, not to mention our cupcake artist Krystal round out our fabulous team. The all contribute to Piece of Cake producing beautiful cakes week after week.
The kitchen is located in the lower level of the bakery and is affectionately referred to as the dungeon. Kristi 's husband Karl was imported from England and is now head baker. Brad has been with the bakery since we first moved downtown in 2004. Our kitchen staff bake our cakes to order, along with our made from scratch cookies and treats, plus make our secret recipe frostings.
Rowen leads our awesome customer service team, which includes Cate's daughter Birdie, Traci and Natalie. Birdie is the mastermind behind our ever-popular, though hard to pronounce OnoMikoMiko cookie. From answering the phones, taking orders, making deliveries or helping a customer out to their car with a cake, our customer service is really top notch. This year Rowen got a chance to travel to Nashville to take an advanced barista course. He came back and is sharing what he learned with the other baristas. Now pairing our locally roasted whole bean coffee and espresso with their knowledge of how to get the perfect extraction from the beans our coffees and lattes are as delicious and the baked goods the pair with so well.
